Hottarake no Shima

I first started my career as a CG Generalist in Studio Alphabet, Kamakura, Japan.

Oblivion Island - ホッタラケの島 was the first big project I worked on for the studio. I worked hard together with Florian Perret to interpret Production I.G's vision into 3D. Each time our 3D proposals made them very enthusiastic on the possibilities and our responsibilities grew.

I was in charge of modeling 4 important characters and also worked on their shaders, textures, and their facial expressions rig.

The exciting part was not just the characters, but also the environment creation. Miyazawa san (an absolutely brilliant designer working for production I.G) gave us very inspiring sketches to work with.

I was also in charge of the R&D and the creation of some environments from A to Z, one of which you can see one of them in this gallery.

2 years later, the project grew until it had to be moved to Polygon pictures (in which I jumped in january 2008).
The deadline for the project was extremely tight, but I had a chance to work on rendering and compositing shots for the final release.
